what one hand giveth…

Another debate without much religion. Minus a shout out to Zen logic (and a possible reference to Job) blogger Daniel Pulliam counted no references to “God,” “church,” or “faith” in last night’s debate. Does this represent a trend that’s been going on since the conventions or was religious rhetoric just a casualty of the national stage?

God obviously has little to do with either foreign policy or the economy! Once the candidates have tipped their hats to the Almighty, apparently there is no need to continue to do so.

I think, at this point, most voters have some sense of the candidates belief structures. It would only play against them in the election if they alluded to those beliefs during the debates. As the questions demonstrated, most of the interest lies in hearing what practical steps the candidates have in mind for working towards resolution of the domestic issues that face the ordinary individual.

No casualties here - it’s clear they only bring up religion when they have to. That’s fine with me - seems more genuine!
