I love seeing evidence of the ancient, pagan origins of what we now consider to be sacred holidays. And this Catalonian addition to the nativity takes the cake. I envision Caravaggio, with his divine depictions of the profane and vice versa, painting such a figure. It makes me think that the baser baser aspects humanity used to figure more prominently into the stories of the lives of gods and their houses, and such humor was not seen as sacrilegious. It was all a part of being human!

Found the article, Exorcist to Star in Reality Show, and am intrigued. It airs in one hour segments this Thursday (10/30) from 6-10p (central) on the Sci Fi channel. May need to sit down and watch a bit. Demon possession is one of those controversial subjects: some nod and some shake their heads. Even respected authors and psychologists nod, so maybe it something to consider seriously. The release of Sony’s new PlayStation 3 game “LittleBigPlanet” is being delayed due to some potentially offensive content. But we’re not talking about another Hot Coffee sex minigame fiasco, nor an uber-violent plot a la Grand Theft Auto. The problem is that one of the songs in the game contains lyrics from the Quran. The Israelite House of David was a religious community established in Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1903. The sect had many interesting tenets and business ideas during its history, but it is best remembered for its baseball team which supposedly invented the pepper game and was called “Jesus’ Boys” by Satchel Paige.
